Head’s Lines
A warm welcome to our new Headteacher
Since announcing my intention to retire at the
end of this academic year I have been moved
by the kind words from so many students,
parents and colleagues. It means a lot to
me and I thank you. Our Governors and the
EMET Directors have moved swiftly to ensure
continuity, and the result of this is the appointment of Mr Andrew George. I invited him to
take this opportunity to introduce himself…
I am delighted to have been
given the opportunity to take
up the role as Head Teacher
of The Kimberley School from
September 2016.
Kimberley is a great school
and I feel very privileged to
be given this opportunity. In
1992 I completed my teaching
practice at the school and I am tremendously
excited by the opportunity to work with this great
community again. In the intervening time, I have
worked in five secondary schools in Nottinghamshire and Sheffield. I also spent two years
working with all schools across Nottinghamshire
as a Mathematics Consultant.
we have achieved at South Wolds and I am
determined to use this experience to build on the
successes of Mr Teal and the staff and governors,
so that The Kimberley School is known locally and
nationally as a centre of educational excellence.
I am also the very proud parent of two children who
attend a Nottinghamshire secondary school. I want
the best for my children at their school and I want
the same for your children. I am looking forward
to working in partnership with parents, governors,
staff, students and the wider community to ensure
that every child achieves or surpasses their
academic and social potential. My aim will be to
ensure students achieve outstanding academic
exam results and participate in a wide range of
exciting opportunities outside of the classroom
that help prepare them for a successful adult life.
Although I do not take up the post until September,
I will be spending some time in the school with
staff and governors starting to understand how
Kimberley works so that I can hit the ground
running in September. I am looking forward to
working with you all to make The Kimberley
School the best school in Nottinghamshire. If you
do see me on my visits to the school in the next
few months, then please do introduce yourself –
I have spent the last 8 years as the Head Teacher it always helps to know a few friendly faces.
