Six th F It has been another very busy period in the Sixth Form with more than 5 weeks of exams as well as lots of other events and activities. Exams orm In terms of preparation and attitude during the exam period, the approach of the Year 12 and 13 students was truly outstanding. We hope they gain the grades they deserve in the summer. Results Day for AS and A2 results is on 18th August. Year 13 results will be available from 8.45am and Year 12 results from 11.00am. This will give time for each year group to be properly supported by staff. Support from staff and the careers advisor will be available on the 18th and 19th. GCSE Resit Results for Maths and English will be available on the 25th August from 9.00 am. Year 12 Work Experience During the week beginning the 27th June, Year 12 go on their work experience placements. Students gain a great deal from entering the world of work for a week and we are very grateful to local employers for giving our students such a meaningful opportunity. Some students have gained really interesting and hopefully rewarding placements with, for instance: the BBC weather team, the police, in primary schools, in health care settings, in industry, and with engineering companies and local businesses. Year 11 are welcomed into the Sixth Form on June 27th and 28th. Whilst Year 12 are on their Work Experience placements, we have invited Year 11 students, who have applied to come into our 6th Form, to come into school and enjoy some taster lessons. This will give them an idea of what to expect when they start in September and they will also be set some preparatory work to ensure they make the best possible start to their courses. Alongside this, there will be a chance to enjoy the atmosphere of the Sixth Form, to meet their tutors and take part in quizzes and lots of eating! The Final Charity Event of the Year - w/c 4th July 2016 The new Year 12 Charity Committee have already started planning for the final charity event of the year. They will work alongside Year 13s to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust in memory of Emily Barker. They plan to run the usual stalls and to have another popular Open Mic event. Emily, who left school in 2011 to take up a course in teacher training, died in December 2015 from bone cancer. Ne The Sixth Form are trying to add a significant amount, through the event, to the money already raised for this very worthy charity. It was a perfect way to say goodbye. Thank you to everyone who organised the afternoon including the Year 12s who decorated the Common Room so well. By Emily Eaton and Charlotte Sands Goodbye and Thank You The Year 13s have made an extremely positive impact within school, as well as in the wider community, through their charity work during the past year. They have raised well over £6000 for good causes and, once the final charity event of the year has taken place, they should have hit their £7000 target! We are very grateful for all the effort the members of the Charity Committee have put into all the events this year. It has been a pleasure and a privilege for all those staff involved with this year group to see them mature and develop over the past two years. We wish them every good fortune in their lives ahead and thank them for the enormous contribution they have made to the school.
