Year 1 and 2 Festival
Hosting the Primary Broxtowe
Boccia Competition
Well done to the following Year 8 boys who led the
Broxtowe Boccia competition for the Primary schools.
They officiated with confidence and were really helpful
when the children needed rules explaining. Wadsworth
Fields Primary School were the winning team with
Albany Juniors coming a close second. Well done Jimi
Knowles, Alex Cooke, Akash Dewshi and Will Moore.
The same boys went to Larkfield Juniors on 2nd
December and worked with students from the Juniors
and the Infants, teaching them boccia and curling.
Broxtowe Primary Schools’ Sports
Hall Athletics Competition
On Wednesday 11th November, we hosted the Primary
School Sports Hall Athletics competition, led brilliantly
by the Year 12 leaders and enrichment students. There
were 7 schools involved from around the area and 1 point
separated the top two with Larkfield Junior School finishing
first and Mornington Primary School second. Both
schools will go through to the next round of the
competition.
The Year 10 GCSE PE students did a tremendous
job leading the Year 1/2 Festival in October. The
students put in a great deal of preparation to practise their
leadership skills and organise the activities for the day.
The children from our feeder infant and primary schools
really enjoyed the event with one little girl saying, ‘it is
the best day of my life,’ which I felt had to be a quote to
share! Well done to the PE students for their efforts.
Primary School Football Tournament
Well done to the following students who were officials at
the Primary School Football Tournament which was held
here on Wednesday 25th November in the afternoon:
Charlie Hartshorn, Jack Marshall, Harry Kidger and Colt
Simpson. There were also the Year 12 leaders helping,
so well done all of you.
Handball
This year handball clubs have been introduced at lunch
time and the school have entered several handball
tournaments across different year groups. The Year 8 and
10 boys won the Broxtowe Handball Championships,
both beating Hall Park in the final. Both teams have now
qualified for the County School Games Tournament in
the new year.
