KHARISMA MAGAZINE { PREMIER ISSUE 2018 } a good job because they’ re bringing them back to health, they’ re nursing them back to health. It kind of touches my heart, because they have a resident caregiver. She lives in the shelter and her work is caring for these animals. They have some owners that are Canadians, that live in Union, I think six months a year or something like that.
They’ ve opened the shelter, but they really just thrive on donations. They don’ t necessarily get a lot of support from law enforcement or from the government. They kind of depend on sympathetic ears. That’ s the kind of stuff I write about. When you think about a destination in the Caribbean, you’ re not thinking about dog shelters and animals that are being mistreated. All you want to hear about is beaches, and margaritas, and all that.
Kharisma: Exactly. Right.
Shana: That’ s very true.
Kharisma: Powerful, powerful advice. If you’ re thinking about really living a purpose-driven life, you know that you have that calling: go for it. We are here for that specific, you are here for that specific purpose. As we know, we only have a limited amount of time here on Earth. There’ s no time like the present. How would our audience connect with you, if they wanted to learn more about you? Maybe through your blog.
Shana: My blog is RoamingAviatrix. com. I’ m on Facebook. I have a Facebook page, a Twitter page, and an Instagram page. @ RoamingAviatrix. They’ re all @ RoamingAviatrix.
Kharisma: Awesome. You can reach out to Shana and send her some love. If you need encouragement, she can do that too. She’ s very powerful, as you can tell. Empowering, yes.
Shana: But stuff goes on.
Kharisma: You’ re a woman after my own heart. I’ m telling you. She is writing about how these litter of puppies are being taken care of, and really bringing awareness of the issue in the Caribbean. It’ s widespread all over the world.
Shana: It is.
Kharisma: What would you say to someone who is sitting on the fence, that feels that they know that they have a deep calling to do something that’ s really unusual, maybe breaking the glass ceiling as a woman, female; what would you say to her?
Shana: First thing I would reiterate is just go for it. If it’ s your calling, you have to do it. If you don’ t, you’ ll just end up being miserable and unfulfilled. That’ s just a waste of life, as far as I’ m concerned. The other thing is to surround yourself with good people. I’ m so fortunate, I don’ t have to do that; I’ ve just been blessed all my life to only be around people who just support me, from family, friends, colleagues, whatever. Just surround yourself with good people, and if you can’ t find any good people, go online, because there’ s forums. I mean there’ s forums, and groups, and organizations, and chat rooms that you can join, that you can get, kind of like, an online support system. You just hold those kind of people, that kind of positive energy, close to you, and at some point in time you’ ll just be able to do what you need to do, to get where you want to go.
Shana: Thank you. Kharisma: Any last words that you want to share?
Shana: No, I’ m really thankful to have this opportunity. As I said, I’ m really grateful that you would choose me to interview. I’ m happy to be able to encourage other people if I can. If I made a little bit of a difference in somebody’ s life who’ s reading this, then I’ m happy for that.
Kharisma: I’ m sure you did. I’ m sure you did. Shana: Thank you for the opportunity.
Kharisma: Thank you so much. The desire to interview you has been about a year in the making.
Shana: Wow.
Kharisma: I wanted to get you in the flesh, because it’ s always different when you actually can sit and have a conversation with a person in person. It really makes a difference to the audience as well. Ladies and gentlemen, you have Shana Jones, the female pilot in the Caribbean, and she is a woman, maybe small in size, but mighty and powerful in spirit.
Shana: Thank you.
Kharisma: Awesome. That’ s some sound advice. Pursue, go for it, and, also, surround yourself with positive people. Who you surround yourself with will have an either negative effect or a positive effect on you, whether or not you think it will have an effect.
