5     The three of them then focused back on the reason they were here: replacing parts and downloading data. Bjorn started with the data. He took the internal hard drive out and replaced it with a blank one. Geoffrey and Megara went to replacing old parts. Their mission continued as it was meant to. Some of this data happen to be pictures, and what he saw was devastating. There were entire cities on fire, and people dying in droves. It was horrifying. He called his fellow astronauts over, and they couldn’t come to words. The White House, the Pentagon, the Britain’s Buckingham Palace, and even NASA had been destroyed. “This isn’t just about winning a war,” Bjorn said. “It’s about survival.” The three then just stared down at the Earth; the place humanity had called home for such a small amount of time. Out of all the ways humanity would become extinct, either by supernova or disease, no one predicted that a domesticated animal had been their biggest threat.
