NAC
JEWELLERS
1917
Begun by N Anjaneyalu Chetty in a 150 sq ft space in North Mada
Street, Mylapore, in 1973, the organisation has grown in leaps and
bounds thanks to their age-old mantra of providing quality and service
to their varied clientele. Times were tough, and the newly established
jewellery brand’s primary target audience was the highly educated
community of the area. In the midst of a real challenge of selling to
a discerning clientele, N Anjaneyalu Chetty emphasised two primary
goals for his store – quality and service. Even four decades on, that
time-honoured tradition continues to hold NAC in good stead. Ananatha
Padmanaban joined his father in 1977, as a 16-year-old. They moved
from a rented store to their own, exclusive 2,400 sq ft showroom
down the same street in Mylapore. “In 1998, NAC was commissioned
to make the Diamond Crown for Goddess Padmavati in Tirupathi. A
piece of rare workmanship, the glittering crown is one-and-a-half feet
high, offering a spectacular sight to pilgrims.
