In the fall, Hela will study Social Sciences at Huron University College in Ontario. Lina will study Behavioural Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain Foundation Scholar.
As Lina and Hela move on to their next chapters, they carry with them lessons from the classroom, the courage of the assembly stage, the endurance of cross-country, the focus of chess and archery, the challenge of Harkness discussions, and the understanding that their voices matter.
They also carry a sense of Crofton House as a community they can return to.“ I’ m really grateful for the community that we have here,” Lina said.“ Knowing that you always have a space here— that gives you such a good feeling.”
In fall 2026, Crofton House will welcome two new students from Afghanistan into Grade 10, continuing a partnership rooted in the belief that educating girls changes lives and communities.
We are grateful to Women Leaders of Tomorrow, and we thank everyone— staff, parents, and friends of CHS— who have supported, and who continue to support, our students from Afghanistan in many ways. Your kindness and generosity reflect our shared values and commitment to girls’ education.
