BERNICE DESBRISAY BELL’ 47 SEPTEMBER 21, 1929 – FEBRUARY 23, 2025
We remember Bernice Desbrisay Bell, a cherished member of the Crofton House community who passed away at the age of 95. A proud graduate of CHS’ s class of 1947, Bernice’ s lifelong connection to the School was marked by her unwavering support and active alumnae involvement well into her later years.
Bernice’ s passion for learning led her to the University of British Columbia, where she earned a degree in English Literature in 1951. It was there that she met her first husband, and together they raised three children, building a life rich with travel, cultural appreciation and community engagement. From the vibrant social circles of Montreal and later returning to her Kerrisdale roots, Bernice brought warmth and grace to every chapter of her life.
Bernice was known for her adventurous heart and her love of sports, literature and the outdoors. She was a true matriarch, leading by example with kindness, compassion and empathy.
PATRICIA VASSEUR MAY 2, 1946 – MAY 4, 2025
We remember Patricia( Pat) Vasseur with deep gratitude for her remarkable contributions to Crofton House School. As Director of Advancement from 2004 to 2014, Pat was the driving force behind the Imagine the Possibilities capital campaign, raising over $ 20 million to launch the first phase of the Campus Master Plan— including the construction of the Senior School and the Early Childhood Education Centre. Her decade of leadership was marked by boundless energy, warmth and expertise, leaving an enduring legacy at CHS.
Pat was a proud graduate of York University and American University, bringing a wealth of experience and vision to every role she held. Beyond her professional achievements, Pat was known for her zest for life. Whether tending her garden, enjoying the company of her golden retrievers, golfing or entertaining at her cottage, she embraced each moment with joy and authenticity. Her warmth and genuine spirit touched all who knew her.
