ATHLETICS Highlights
Athletics at Crofton House School combines teamwork, fun, growth, and competitive spirit— fostering confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community among students. From the Junior School through the Senior School, students participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and rowing. See the highlights from the 2024 – 2025 Crofton Falcons athletics program below.
WHOLE SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
Staff versus student competitions continued this year! The traditional soccer, field hockey and basketball games in the Senior School expanded to include a cross-country campus race, tennis, track and field challenge, rowing and golf! In the Junior School, students and staff competed in a rounders match, alongside basketball and volleyball.
In the Senior School, National Girls and Women in Sports Day was celebrated with a jersey day, guest speaker Whitney Bell, Chief Marketing Officer of the WNBA’ s Toronto Tempo, and a lunchtime competition hosted by Grade 10 student leadership.
Crofton House also hosted the Western Canadian Independent Schools Volleyball Championships, where our varsity volleyball team won gold for the second consecutive year!
Crofton House participated in provincials for eight of our nine eligible sports in the Senior School: volleyball, crosscountry, field hockey, basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, and track and field.
SENIOR SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
• The varsity volleyball, field hockey, and tennis teams all earned provincial championship titles.
• The varsity golf team won provincial bronze.
• The varsity rowing quad team earned bronze at the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Nationals.
• The varsity badminton team captured the ISA Championship title.
• 18 Crofton Falcons athletes competed at this year’ s track and field provincials.
• CHS qualified two runners for the cross-country provincial championships.
• The varsity soccer team finished 8th at provincials.
• The varsity basketball team finished 9th at provincials.
JUNIOR SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
• 89 athletes participated in cross-country from Grades 3 – 7. The team participated in the Fraser Academy Relay at Jericho Beach, the West Point Grey Academy Campus Trail Invitational, and the ISEA Cross-Country Meet.
• 69 students participated in volleyball across Grade 5 and 6.
• The 7A volleyball team hosted and won the ISEA Championships.
• 61 athletes participated in basketball across Grade 5 and 6.
• The Grade 7A basketball team finished 3rd at the ISEA Tournament.
• 22 students in Grades 3 – 4 participated in fitness activities throughout Term 2.
• 137 students from Grades 3 – 7 participated in track and field.
• Grade 3 and Grade 6 students won their respective age categories at the Vancouver Olympic Club Track Meet.
• Grades 4 – 7 placed 2nd at the ISEA Championship Meet.
• Grades 3 – 7 placed 1st in the girls team category at the BC Elementary Championship.
• 70 students from Grades 3-7 participated in field hockey. CHS also hosted the Popsicle Cup, where Grade 6 and 7 students participated in an afternoon of games versus York House School and Collingwood School.
