Hold On to your Pet Song Tightly
By Angela Bordi
"Didn’t they always say we were the lucky ones…” Whenever I hear these first words from Michael Bublé’s song Hold On, I fall in love over and over again. It’s not only his softly mellifluous voice that makes me addicted to that song, but also the message he’s trying to convey. As I hear the lyrics, I instantly relax and the expression on my face betrays how emotive this song is for me.
I started listening to Michael Bublé’s albums when I was 17 years old and, since then, I’ve never stopped. I can still remember my father advising me against listening to the rubbish music teenagers used to like at that moment; he would tell me to be an intelligent girl and listen to good music. This is the reason why I started looking for a singer or a band that I could feel represented by. As I’ve always liked English very much, I started listening to English-speaking singers, whom I’ve always enjoyed the most. Luckily, one day, I came across Michael Bublé’s album Crazy Love, which was released in October 2009, and I really fell in love with his music.
Hold On has become one of my favourite songs from his sixth album. When I press the play button and the piano starts playing, my eyes have already become wet. It’s something I can’t explain, though feelings aren’t easily explicable. But this song, in particular, arouses deep emotions in me since it speaks about the strength of love. Even though a couple may not achieve their dreams and plans, there is still hope if there is a “you” and a “me” because, after all, love is what remains. Michael Bublé very well says in his song, “Maybe all the plans we made might not work out, but I have no doubt, even though it's hard to see. I've got faith in us, and I believe in you and me.”
From my personal experience, this song can help you with the worries of everyday life, such as quarrels with your boyfriend or with your family, or with somebody you really love. This doesn’t mean that you’re going to deal with all your problems successfully, but if you are going through hard times, you can always listen to this song - it’ll surely soothe you. It’ll give you the strength to carry on, it’ll help you relax and it’ll give you time to think things over.
