As our glorious
summer starts to
come to an end,
the holidays will
soon be over,
and the realities
of a new term
are upon us all.

More so than
in January, the beginning of September
feels like the start of a new year for a
variety of reasons.
Life will settle back into routine and will
go back to its usual rhythm. Holidays
and lazy days in that scorching heat will
be over. Children and young people will
return to school and university. Days will
be shorter, the nights will be cooler and
there’s already a refreshing breeze in the
air that wasn’t there before.
From childhood we are programmed
to see September as a new beginning.
New stationery, new uniform and
shoes, new diaries, and a new weekly
planner are all markers that it’s time
for a new start. This all feels revitalising
and triggers renewed energy. Such
deep emotional programming makes
September an excellent time to focus
on new plans. Thinking of September
as a time for new beginnings brings a
sense of anticipation. That project could
be completed, that work on my home
can be done. It produces happiness-
producing energy of possibilities.
If you are in block managed apartments
or housing, use that thought process of
new beginnings to consider changing
the way your home is looked after. Just
because life might return to a regular
routine, don’t let the same predictable
patterns of unmaintained block
management become commonplace
