PAGE 2 Message from the Basileus Good is not Enough Greetings Sorors, It’s hard to believe that the year 2013 has come to a close. This year has been a year of transition, restoration, and evaluation for Iota Sigma. Our chapter is moving forward in all of these areas. However, good is not enough for this officer. This officer wants to lead the chapter to greatness! We have to put systems in place so that the chapter is running more efficiently and we have to incorporate technologies in order to make giving, paying dues, and purchasing tickets easier as well as communicating with members and partners more efficient, effective and secure. We are working on these items slowly, but surely. This officer desires greatness for Iota Sigma and our illustrious organization at large, so with that said we are evaluating all that we do through electronic surveys and informal surveys as well so that we can improve and grow. We are incorporating a suggestion box so that the members can give input on a regular basis. This year we have put our five year strategic plan in place for Iota Sigma and will continue to work that plan. We are working our retention plan through mentoring, training, social activities and focusing on serving one another within the chapter – putting Sisterhood first. We are building and rekindling partnerships with the YMCA, Sisters Network, and other NPHC organizations. We have done the following service projects thus far: Σ Γ Ρ Sigma Gamma Rho Σ Operation Big Book Bag Σ Hattie McDaniel Cancer and Health Awareness Programs Σ Voter Registration We look forward to all that 2014 will bring. According to God fourteen stands for a double measure of spiritual perfection and deliverance and salvation. How does this relate to our illustrious sorority and even still to Iota Sigma? Well, we need to strive for perfection in the spirit of teamwork, commitment, and the genuine desire to see Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. move forward. When we fall short or when we feel that another Soror has fallen short then we need to walk in the spirit of forgiveness. Also, we need to be delivered from the spirit of mediocrity and do our absolute best to do all things with excellence. I believe that if we keep these things in mind and walk in them that 2014 will be one of the best years for Iota Sigma! I wish you all prosperity in health, wealth, and relationships. Happy New Year!
