TRANSMITTED DISEASES
Essay 2
By Cindy Jiménez and Jesicka Reyes
In this article you will encounter the different
type of Sexual Transmitted Diseases in which they will
deeply explain their medication, the risk of having them
and also understanding how bad it can be to have one.
AIDS or also called Human Immunodeficiency virus
consists of a virus that paralyses the immune system
and kills body cells that fight infection. It all starts when
you have HIV and when it turns to AIDS. As symptoms
of contracting AIDS is the weakened immune system,
which includes weight loss, sweat, fatigue, a lot of
diarrhea, no breath and also difficult swallowing. This
virus can be contracted by oral, anal or vaginal sex. The
ways to prevent it would be using a condom when you
are having sex. AIDS doesn’t have a cure once you
have it you can’t go out of it, there are medications that
can reduce the pain but there’s no cure.
Gonorrhea is a made by bacteria called Neisseria
gonorrhea, this can be reproduced in warm and
moisturized places of the reproductive tract. Its
symptoms include painful discharge in penis or vagina
and difficult urination. It can also spread to other parts of
the body in which through the years there could be a life
treatment for this spreading. In women one of the most
difficult results would be a Pelvis Inflammatory Disease
and if the women is pregnant the virus goes to the fetus.
People who have gonorrhea there is an expectation of
them catching HIV virus. The population who has HIV
virus + gonorrhea are very often to transmit the virus. So
the big question is there a cure for gonorrhea? There is
a cure in which consists of medication that can make
you feel better.
Genital Herpes this disease consist of an infection
caused by the herpes simplex virus. There’s 2 types:
Type 1 of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and type 2
(HSV-2). Both can include
genital herpes but most of the
time is caused by type 2. Type

Syphilis is a sexually
transmitted disease caused by
bacteria. It infects the genital area, lips, mouth or anus
of both men and women. It is usually acquired through
sexual contact with someone who has this disease. It
can also be passed from a mother to baby during
pregnancy. The early stage of syphilis usually causes a
single, small, painless sore. Sometimes it causes
swollen lymph nodes nearby. If it is left untreated, it
usually causes a rash that does not itch and is often
found in the hands and feet. Many people do not notice
symptoms for years. Symptoms may disappear and
reappear. The sore caused by syphilis facilitates
acquiring or spreading HIV during sexual intercourse. If
you are pregnant, syphilis can cause birth defects or
abortions. In rare cases, syphilis causes serious health
problems and even death. If it is detected early, the
disease is easily cured with antibiotics. Correct usage of
latex condoms greatly reduces but does not eliminate
the risk of catching or spreading syphilis.
Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease
caused by bacteria. It can be transmitted by oral, vaginal
or anal sex with an infected person. Both men and
women can have it . Chlamydia usually does not have
any symptoms. But when they do occur, they may
appear as a burning sensation during urination or
abnormal discharge from the vagina or penis. Chlamydia
can infect the urinary tract in both men and women. In
women, this infection in the reproductive system can
lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, which can lead to
infertility or serious problems with pregnancy. Children
born to infected mothers can get eye infections and
pneumonia chlamydia. In men, chlamydia can infect the
epididymis, the tube that carries sperm. This can cause
pain, fever and, in rare cases, infertility. Chlamydia is
diagnosed through laboratory analysis. Treatment
consists of antibiotics. The proper use of latex condoms
(condoms) greatly reduces the risk of contracting or
spreading the infection but does not eliminate the risk
entirely. Experts recommend that women unde r 25 who
are sexually active chlamydia tests are performed every
year.
The human papilloma virus (HPV) are common
viruses that can cause warts. There are over 100 types
of HPV. Most are harmless, but about 30 types are
associated with an increased risk of cancer. These types
affect the genitals and they are acquired through sexual
contact with an infected partner. They are classified as
low risk or high risk. The low-risk HPV can cause genital
warts. In women, high-risk HPV can lead to cancer of
the cervix, vulva, vagina and anus. In men, they can
lead to cancer of the anus and penis. While some
people develop genital warts HPV as symptoms of this
infection, others may not feel them. A health care
professional can treat or remove these warts. In women,
the HPV test can detect changes in the cervix that might
lead to cancer. Correct usage of latex condoms greatly
reduces, but does not eliminate, the risk of catching or
spreading HPV. Vaccines can protect against several
types of HPV, including some that can cause cancer.
In conclusion, there are various sexually transmitted
diseases and virus that can cause not only unwanted
symptoms, but can end with your life. Most of them can
reduce the risk of getting them by using latex condoms
or vaccines.
