ANTHONY NOGHES

CORNER #11

We have Anthony Noghes to thank for the existence of the Monaco Grand Prix. It was Anthony who in the 1920's came up with the idea of the now infamous street race.

Antony also helped create the Rallye Monte-Carlo in 1911.

In addition he suggested the international adoption of the checkered flag to end races. Anthony died in August 1978 and since 1979, the last turn of the Monaco circuit just before the finish line, has been named "Virage Antony Noghès" after him.
