This corner has remained the same since the inception of the race here in Monaco.

The only difference, there tobacconists after which is was named is no longer in existence.

SENNA CRASH SITE

The Portier sticks in ones memory following the accident of Ayrton Senna who crashed there in the lead in 1988 when almost a minute clear.!

Portier is an area of Monaco named after a Catholic order.

The apex at 49 kph it is the SLOWEST CORNER in the entire Formula 1 calendar.

Originally named after a garage that was there but then after the hotel was built it became known as the Fairmont Haipin.
