ISBF Speaks on Pedagogy

A Pedagogy for Our Age
In this highly hyper-competitive world , the onus is on educational institutions to hone skills of young graduates to enable them to face the enormous corporate challenges . ISBF has realized this and has accomplished a significant breakthrough in imparting teaching and learning for the young and dynamic student fraternity where technological advancement in classrooms and involvement of students in undertaking practical value based assignments and projects has paved the way for these students to advance their career trajectory . In accordance with this philosophy , all courses at ISBF are taught by providing noteworthy practical exposure in terms of industry professionals coming to campus to share their learnings and experiences with the students and simultaneously students getting absorbed into the corporate world for carrying out data analysis , research projects , and management practices which are contemporary and relevant in real life business situations .
We , at ISBF , have stressed the importance that economics is one of the most popular disciplines where microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis can be successfully conceptualized for making important strategic decisions by individuals and firms . Students are given a thorough insight on critical management functions like HRM , marketing , finance and accounting , and they are encouraged to apply the principles in specific organizations while pursuing their internship projects . Concerted efforts comprising , deep interaction among faculties , complementing lectures with relevant popular culture inputs and diverse media , case analyses , student engagement initiatives and several others have created a strong base and foundation for nurturing academic excellence amongst young graduates of ISBF .
THE POWER OF WHY video series goes places
The POWER of WHY series runs over the summer with various concepts discussed on a weekly basis where students participate overwhelmingly to the video presentations made by ISBF Faculty team to inculcate the spirit of WHY among the student community . This video discussion is followed by an activity garbed in an assessment to encourage them to think intelligently and come out with possible solutions to real-world or academic problems . Two-thirds of the student body participated across the spectrum of The Power of WHY series organized this summer !
One of the topics under discussion in last month ’ s POWER of WHY series is “ WHY PRODUCT PLACEMENT AS A MARKETING STRATEGY ”. The basic underlying assumption here is that several modes of marketing communication exist but it is strongly perceived that traditional advertising techniques do not yield positive results at all times . This is where product placement can be highly effective as brands get featured and showcased with movies or television shows which stimulates consumer behavior .
The traditional advertising techniques used for promoting brand awareness and attitudes towards brands stopped fetching immense pay backs to organizations as the media industry was relatively immature and there were limitations to creativity . This precipitated the emergence and birth of product placements as an alternative mode of communication for enhancing brand recognition , awareness and image .
One of the most fascinating examples of product placements is that of Coca-Cola featuring in the American fiction horror web television series titled “ Stranger Things ”. The episode illustrates how Eleven , the ‘ strange ’ protagonist , crushes a can of coke using her telekinetic powers while watching television . Although , product placements prove to be expensive , many internationally renowned brands like Budweiser , Dell , Starbucks and Samsung have resorted to this platform for boosting brand recognition , perception and image and in the process augmenting their volume of sales by inducing consumers to remain associated with their brands .
An advertisement can be ignored by the target audience , but for product placement there is no escape and if done successfully , creates a long lasting impression in the minds of consumers .
