US-based Ammann & Whitney
Consulting Engineers with Louis
Berger Group. The main span
was completed on October 26,
2012. The bridge was opened
to traffic on March29, 2013,
the 38th anniversary of the
liberation of Danang City.
The dragon itself is modelled
after one of the symbols of the Ly
Dynasty, which ruled Vietnam a
thousand years ago. The dragon
is one of the most important
symbols in Vietnamese culture.
It symbolizes power, nobility and
good fortune. The Dragon Bridge
is also a symbol for Danang's
grow th as an impor t ant
transpor tation, educational
and cultural centre in Central
Vietnam.
