Conclusion
Mapping work was carried out documenting the
experiences and problems encountered during
the tunnel excavation. Figure 19 shows some of
the mapping work that was done along the tunnel
route.
Finally, the excavation of this unusually long
and deep tunnel presented a number of interesting
technical challenges that have or are being
overcome. Excavation is currently 91.8% complete
and is scheduled to be completed in 2014. We
believe this project will be a useful benchmark for
future tunnel projects in Malaysia and elsewhere
in the world.
