You know that the organization is adding considerable to pollution in their locality and that senior management brushes aside any suggestions that it should be more “community-minded.” Another manager has confided to you that he will be leaving in a year’s time, but he wishes this to remain undisclosed. He has told you this secret in confidence. Both you and he know that his promotion is imminent and that it is crucial to the firm’s future plans. You have the opportunity to off a job to a friend who really needs it. Although you believe that the friend could perform adequately, there are others, more highly qualified applicants. You believe that women are not given a fair chance of promotion. You wish to promote a woman subordinate but you know that this will be strongly resisted by senior mgmt.
