Lala is on a mission to use her positon as a model to change the status quo and changes people’s misconceptions of Aboriginal people. “It really upsets me to see how my people are portrayed so negatively in mainstream media so I think it’s really important that we start breaking down those stereotypical barriers and try to flood the media with all of our amazing achievements and success stories.”

Lala was born for the runway. From a young age playing dress-up with her twin sister, doing each other hair and make-up, entertaining the family and friends, always wanting to be in the spotlight! She tells us that her mum would always say “I’ve always been a drama queen and loved the spotlight so

I might as well run with it if I’m good at it, and it just seems to fit."

Using the runway as a platform the promote Indigenous Fashion and designers, she has worn desginers such a Lyn-Al, Buluuy Mirrii by Collen Tighe Johnson, Jinda by Phil Walley-Stack, Indii Swimwear by Nanci Patterson and other Australian designers who have sponsored or collaborated with her such as Occulture and Roxcii by Frida Deguise.

If crowned the winner, Lala will receive a one year contract with an international modelling agency in New York, a 12 month acting scholarship with Bobbie Chance Shaw in Hollywood, as well as other prizes that will help launch her career on an international scale.

Lala has had to swallow her pride and ask for the support of the Australian community to assist with raising the funds associated with the pageant. She has started a Go-FundMe account where you can donate directly to help Lala go to China to compete for the Miss World title.

Fighting to be the first Aboriginal women to be crowned Miss World, she will return from China, competing for Miss World Australia.
