A Welcome Note From
Our Editors
“All immigrants are artists because they create
a life, a future, from nothing but a dream.”
—Patricia Engel.
When it comes to how Americans view the impact of
immigration on U.S. society and life, there seems to
be a big disparity. Arrivals of immigrants of all skill
categories have long augmented the nation’s labor
force.
At present, several labor-intensive U.S. industries
including construction, hotels, restaurants, and
agriculture, employ many foreign-born workers, not
all of whom are legally authorized to work in this
country.
In this edition, we present a few articles that
discuss the current state of events with respect to
immigration.
