Mongolia NaraBara is a musical collective blending the complex harmonies and intricate rhythms of jazz with the mystical storytelling and atmospheric qualities of Mongolian folk. Yider, the producer and vocalist, has enlisted keyboardist Asr, guitarist Suoty, and drummer Zhitong Xu to combine their years of technical craft in a soundscape rooted deeply in disciplined energy and textural layering.
NaraBara’s music is a spatial practice to extend the sound waves across boundaries. It’s new EP “Dab Hi”(Dash) blends floating Mongolian Folk and grounding Jazz travel through many worlds. From the boundless Gobi's embrace to Siberia's icy peaks, racing toward the ceremonial dance of the grassy plain, and finding rest in the tender night by the flowing river's side. NaraBara dash though the musical cosmos unrestrained.
On this release, NaraBara expands the band to include Mauritius musician Fred Grenade on base, who enriches the stylistic spectrum in fascinating ways.
Following the success of standout singles like NaraNaraNara and their EP Dab Hi, NaraBara’s new release Bimba pushes the boundaries with its
unconventional 4/5 time signature.
The song's title, drawn from the Tibetan and Mongolian word
for Saturn and Saturday, is a metaphor for life’s fleeting
moments of rest and reflection.
Musically, the song mirrors this theme—never resolving to
the expected sixth beat, symbolizing the continuous pursuit
of something elusive, just out of reach.
As the band gears up for their 2024 European Tour,
themed “Take a Break,” Bimba serves as a perfect
precursor. The tour, and the single, reflect
NaraBara’s mantra of embracing life’s
uncertainties while staying grounded in
the present moment. Bimba
encapsulates this philosophy,
inviting listeners to find beauty in
impermanence and seek rest
even amidst life’s challenges.
