Carla Aakre

On the first full-length album 'things i forgot to tell you', singer-songwriter Carla Aakre dives into the corners of her mind leading her listeners through scenes of longing, doubt and delight. Observing things with the most delicate way, Aakre comes out with a captivating storytelling consisting of memories, desires and self-reflection. She uses her imagination as a versatile tool in songwriting, seeking to expand upon her creative abilities and pushing boundaries for indie folk/pop music. By finding beauty on things around her, she absorbs inspiration from finite time, relationships, surroundings and existence.

By collaborating with her friend, producer/mixer Roni Ylhäinen, her music got influenced by the analogue sound as they recorded demos, many of which ended up as final takes on Roni's 8 track multi-tracker. After completing the musical groundwork at his studio, they started working on string and horn arrangements led by Aakre's sister Milla Käyhty.

Carla Aakre, the Helsinki-based singer-songwriter, makes her debut with new single 'watercolour', a heartfelt ode to friendship. This track also signals her forthcoming full-length album Things I Forgot to Tell You, a project that dives deep into the corners of Aakre's mind, leading listeners through scenes of longing, doubt, and delight, in an organic blend of alt-folk and indie-pop, with a dash of indie-rock undertones.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind 'watercolour', Carla Aakre shares, "'watercolour' is an ode to friendship. Sometimes you need someone to remind you of the beauty around you. With the help of friendship, even in difficult moments, you can find something you want to cherish."

This single beautifully encapsulates the power of connection and the way friendships can illuminate even the darkest times. It's a showcase of Aakre's ability to observe and reflect on the world around her, finding beauty in the finite moments of life. Her captivating storytelling draws from memories, desires, and self-reflection.
