Greg James, from BBC Radio One, has praised Arlo Parks as the most exciting songwriter-singer he has heard in years. She already has a massive fanbase, including the likes of Phoebe Bridges and Loyle Carner, who are admirers of her unique take on confessional pop. At only 20 years of age, Arlo Parks (who’s real name is actually Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho) is quickly transforming herself into the poster girl for Gen-Z thanks to a captivating selection of singles, ranging from “Black Dog” through to “Super Sad Generation”.

Quarter French, quarter Chadian, and half Nigerian, being raised in South West London, Arlo Parks was able to speak French long before English and was heavily influenced by King Krule, Otis Redding, Sylvia Plath, Jim Morrison, and Ginsberg. She recently signed with Transgressive Records, home to Two Door Cinema Club and Foals, and was part of the Glastonbury coverage over the summer, becoming an ambassador for Calm, a mental health charity organization. She also managed to complete her debut album and looks like she will dominate the music industry in the coming years. If you enjoy Arlo Parks’ music, you’ll also appreciate Nashville-based songwriter and singer Bailey Bryan.
