"My style is the product of social conditioning.
My writing is the product of our times."
So says; Classically trained grungester, singer, guitarist, bassist and pianist Liv Luce and she seeks to create deep sounds, with little instrumentation.
Currently based in Dordogne (France), having participated in the Oxford (UK) music scene since adolescence, she offers a dynamic, raw but melodious show with virtuoso drummer Pat Holmberg.
The sound draws upon influences ranging from The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool and PJ Harvey to Debussy and Philip Glass.
When Pat and I started to work the songs out as a two-piece, and I
transitioned from acoustic to electric guitar, they got heavier and
louder, reflecting our common grounding in the rich heritage of
alternative rock from Soundgarden, A Perfect Circle to Fugazi, as
well as turn of the century classical composers like Debussy and
Ravel.
The compositions, though melodic, reflect the syncretism of my
musical influences, with unusual time signatures and modulating
key progressions.
Liv Luce writes melodious grungy tunes. Performed and recorded
as a two piece with drumming virtuoso Pat Holmberg, she
combines a range of musical inspirations and social commentary
to dynamic effect.
