Independent Rock Group of Paris, Other Lies mixes energy and the creativity of the movements from Punk (Alternative, New Wave, Post Punk, No Wave), the psychedelic electro-planing atmospheres and the richness of the sounds of acoustic instruments (Cithar, Santur). Drawing on his various influences, Other Lies is happy to experiment Outside of traditional writing rules.
The texts claim a cynical and poetic vision of the world and of the need to find an inner spiritual path in defiance of materialistic or nihilitic approaches. Initiatory journeys between East and West, Other Lies’ songs present nostalgic and hallucinatory visions, inspired by writers such as Hunter S. Thompson, Pierre Lotti or Stéphane Sweig.
The debut album «Beyond Fur» released in 2020 is characterized by a raw new wave sound based on a drum machine/bass pairing rough and airy guitars, the lyrics dealing with duplicity and the fear of abandonment.
Now, Other Lies unveil “Vanity Rewinds”, a new single that delves into the liminal space between death and judgement, where human illusions begin to collapse. Suspended in the afterlife while awaiting the Last Judgement, the narrator comes to a stark realisation: the corruption of the world was never the burden of one individual alone, but a collective condition.
John Michael Ferrari (JMF) is a multiple award-winning entertainer and baby boomer storyteller whose music transforms lived experiences into timeless, emotionally relatable songs. Blending pop, country, jazz influences, and inspiration themes, JMF creates music that speaks to resilience, love, redemption, and the human spirit.
A survivor of a volatile and abusive childhood, JMF found refuge in a pawn shop guitar at age eight. That instrument became both shield and compass - guiding him through hardship, military service, and ultimately toward a life devoted to songwriting and entertaining. Today, JMF’s music reaches global radio audiences and international award stages.
Serving with the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam conflict (1965-66), JMF experienced firsthand the intensity of combat. After his first firefight, he wrote the song “Dustoff,” honoring the helicopter crews who rescued the wounded under fire.
Music followed JMF even there - a guitar appeared at base
camp, and JMF performed for fellow soldiers and officers
alike.
Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army,
JMF performed in clubs, resorts, and
steakhouses until 1990 when he met music
producer Pepper Jay at Highland Springs
Resort. They have been working together on
his performance and original songs ever
since.
Recently, JMF was awarded the
“Quilt of Valor” for his military service.
