Strange Matter "Water"

GENRE: ALTERNATIVE POP

At its core, the band Strange Matter is a jack of all trades. There simply isn’t one way to

describe its style. Dave and Casey’s goal since the band’s founding has always been musical

experimentation — it is this pair’s defining trait. As such, their song’s genres range from

Psychedelic and/or Alternative Rock, to Blues, and even to Latin Jazz. The band’s combination

of cohesion and diversity is bound to catch you off guard. The two members met in their first

few weeks of college and hit it off. After spending time together and realizing how capable

they both were as musicians, they made a plan to create something worthwhile together: the

band itself. Their passion for their craft has inspired them to pursue the art beyond its

perceived potential and to break boundaries in a multitude of ways.

Their greatest strength is their ability to work together and understand what the other wants when it comes to any song they write. As the two move forward to greater heights, they strive for each new song to be better than the one before.

"It Takes A Long Time" was the very first song I (Bruce McInnis Jr) ever wrote. I was 8 years old and scribbled down the words. When I was around 13 years old I was awarded the first ever Music Award at my elementary school in Whitefield, Maine. I then put music to it and never actually performed the song for almost 40 years. I am not quite sure what I was thinking about at 8 years old, but the song has taken on a life of it's own describing how it does take a lifetime of learning and decisions to get through this life. Some are good decisions and others not so good, but nonetheless we live with the consequences of them and at the end of the day, we will all be okay. My brother James and my wife Debby add beautiful rich harmonies that draw you into the story.
