There are some performers who win you over right from the start. This is because they have an emotion which will attract you, a suggestibility that will get under your skin and an energy which will draw you in to surrender to it. On the dance floor or in the earphones of your mobile phone, either way. In an instant, you will be caught up as you inadvertently start humming their melodies or your thoughts wander off into the distance. Sarah & The Romans is one such group.
Sarah & The Romans – the Croatian bluegrass band, a group of honest fans of American musical styles and European artistic heritage. In their visual identity you’ll find rural scenes of Gorski Kotar and the atmosphere of Louisiana, elements of Central European folk and the intuitiveness of American musical tradition. On stage polka and country, waltz and western, march and blues, mazurka and rock ‘n’ roll are part of their musical mix.
The members of Sarah & The Romans are experienced musicians who have honed their skills in numerous bands and by collaborating with prominent performers. They are Nikolina Akmadža, Matea Dujmović, Nina Fakin (vocals), Boris Luković (dobro), Domagoj Zubović (double bass), Roman Tomašković (mandolin), Antun Stašić, Iva Štefančić (violin), Ivica Dujić (harmonica), Zoran Petrović (guitar), Suzan Vidović (snare drum) and Goran Troha (banjo, guitar).
In November 2017, Sarah & The Romans released their debut album First Date. It garnered positive reviews throughout Europe, with CountryMusicNews.de summing it up as follows: “Honest, passionate, classic. First Date by Sarah & The Romans delivers classic bluegrass and country music at its finest, all while hitting its own note. It’s a must-listen!”
The positive reviews for the album “First Date” also attracted the attention of organizers. As a result, Sarah & The Romans will perform at the Danetzare International Folklore Festival in Erfurt.
