President ’ s Introduction
Welcome to everyone arriving this summer . I hope you have a wonderful time here in Gloucestershire . Fortunately , with the easing of COVID restrictions all of the ASC activities have resumed . This has allowed the willing team of volunteers to bring people together through coffee mornings , international lunches , cultural visits , local walks , wine tastings and various other events . The Club is free to join and open to all . It has proved to be a really good way to make friends and find out what is going on when you have just arrived . Please look on the ASC Facebook page to find out about what events are happening . Good bye and good luck to all those families moving on – I hope you have enjoyed your time with us .
The Club would also like to say a huge thank you to all the committee members leaving this summer for all the hard work they have put in on behalf of the ASC . You will be missed ! If you would like to find out more , would like to volunteer to be on the committee or have an idea for an event then please email Sabrina at theascsecretary @ gmail . com

WILD PROJECT
“ We loved the wild place project . It was amazing to see the animals so close , compared to some zoos the enclosures felt bigger and more natural to the animals . The children loved walking across the bridge over the enclosures looking for the animals hiding beneath them . Our favourite area was the lemur enclosure ; you can actually walk around in the enclosure with them ! It was great fun to watch them jump around in the trees above you and run past you on the paths . We can ’ t wait to go again .”

The COVID period forced a number of temporary closures , not least the Imjin Barber Shop which is situated opposite the Guardroom . The previous Barber served for 50 years , and everyone on Station wished Al Goodwin a very happy retirement in April 2021 .
The Barber Shop had to remain closed for COVID reasons and for refurbishment .
The Imjin Station Barber Shop is now OPEN and Kerry Wray ’ s flyer has all the details . COSARRC , Major General Kevin Copsey opened the newly refurbished payment , which included parking , and we saved over £ 30 ! Just turn up at the zoo with your tickets , no pre-booking is required .
There was something for both our daughters ; Erin ( 10 ) and Grace ( 6months ), as the zoo has hundreds of exotic and endangered animals . Erin loved watching the flamingos and taking a ride on the vintage chairlift from the entrance up to the castle , whilst Grace was fascinated by the giraffes and anteaters . The whole family enjoyed a picnic on the castle grounds at the top of the hill , however , there are several cafes and a restaurant if you would prefer a sit-down lunch . There is also a funfair and a gift shop that younger visitors may like to visit . Thank you Welfare - a fun day out for the whole family at a great price !”
