Wow, here we are again! It doesn’t
seem like 5 minutes ago we were
writing an article ready for the Spring
2017 issue. It’s been an absolutely
incredible end to 2017, having the
honour of performing at celebratory,
Remembrance and Christmas events all
over Gloucestershire.
Remembrance Day was busy for us,
performing at not one, but two venues!
We were invited to observe the 2 minute
silence followed by a performance at
Gloucester Quays. Then it was a quick
turnaround and short bus journey to arrive
at Kingsholme Stadium ready to sing a
rather chilly half time set at the Gloucester
vs London Irish match, where an incredible
£5763.18 was raised for the Royal British
Legion Poppy Appeal.
but to join in the fun of the entire evening.
Thank you again for asking us to celebrate
with you all.
We were absolutely thrilled to be invited
to sing, not once but twice, at Gloucester
Cathedral. The first event being the ARRC
Christmas celebration and the second,
performing as part of the BBC Radio
Gloucestershire Christmas Celebration
which was a sell-out event. We absolutely
love singing in the cathedral and hope to be
performing there again soon.
But it wasn’t all business with no pleasure.
We had a fantastic Christmas social event
at the Toby Carvery in Brockworth who
didn’t know what had hit them when a semi-
spontaneous rendition of The Twelve Days
of Christmas broke out!
After a much needed break over Christmas
and New Year, we headed off to Birmingham
for a one day workshop, led by the
wonderfully talented Dominic Ellis-Peckham.
January also saw us hold our AGM and the
election of a new committee. On behalf
of the entire choir, we’d like to thank our
retiring committee members for their
consistent hard work and support in
bringing our fantastic choir together. During
the course of the evening a small collection
was held on behalf of the Little Troopers
charity and a very generous £69.40 was
donated. Little Troopers is a charity that
Over the Christmas period we entertained
at several venues, starting off with the
Military Wives Choirs Home For Christmas
Cathedral Tour at Worcester Cathedral. This
not only marked the start of our festive
repertoire but we had the privilege of being
the first choir to kick start the tour.
The Choir had so much fun performing at
Thirlestaine Park Care Home in Cheltenham
where they welcomed us with open arms,
allowing us to not only perform for them
This was followed by a day of recording
at the beautiful Elgar Concert Hall for our
new album; led by the comedy genius,
conductor and all round superstar Hilary
