On the
move?
Of course, nobody ever wants to leave
Gloucestershire, but all good things
must eventually come to an end – and
when the time comes to be posted from
the area, be sure to follow our simple
checklist below.
De-register from doctors / dentists /
hospitals
Ensure that you and your family tell your doctors’
surgery, dental practice, and (if receiving hospital
treatment) hospital department, that you are moving and
when. They can then de-register your family from the
surgery, practice and department. This will ensure that
there are places there for new families when they arrive.
Your child / children’s school
You must inform your child/children’s school that they will
be leaving the school, as you are moving from the area. It
is important to do this, so that the school doesn’t report
your child as truant when they don’t attend, and so they
know the availability of future places.
Re-direct your mail when you leave
the area
It’s also important to have your mail re-directed – so that
you won’t miss any important post, but more importantly
to prevent your personal details being stolen and used
by someone fraudulently.
Royal Mail has a re-direct service, and post can be
directed to any UK or overseas address, for a required
period and for all family members, at a small cost.
Check the Royal Mail website for more information www.
