Born and bred in Boston, Jamie Alimorad first hit the stage as a solo artist in the Underground Boston Club scene in 2009. The following year he released his first EP Cornerstone, which features my favourite song “She Is”. In 2011 all, four songs from this album peaked at No 1 on the Indie 104 Top 40 Charts.

In July of 2012 Jamie released his first full-length album “Words Left Unsaid” from this album he produced two videos “Beautiful” and “Crawling Back to You”. Beautiful which reached over 2 million views on You tube and has gained Jamie fans from all over the world.

Mark and I have interviewed Jamie on several occasions and had the pleasure of meeting him in person back in 2013. He is one of the most professional independent musicians that we have ever interviewed and know that success is within his reach.

2014 he went back on the road touring, and 2015 we eagerly await a new album which is going to be produced by Canadian singer, songwriter, Gino Vannelli for which I for one am very excited!

Tell us a bit about your musical background and how you came to be where you are today?

I began playing piano when I was 7 and also sang in the church choir. In 4th grade I started playing alto saxophone and loved playing in band! I did so through high school and became drum major of the marching band, marching all over the country including Disney World and Lincoln Center.

I continued my music education into college where I got my Bachelors of Science in Music Technology from Northeastern University. While at school I formed a band and began performing at the campus nightclub. After several line-up changes I decided to go at it as a solo artist, then started to perform throughout Boston. I got my first break after a festival in Worcester, Massachusetts and earned a production deal to record what would become my first album, Cornerstone.

Who has influenced your music the most?

I’ve always gravitated towards strong melodies, big productions and lush harmonies. The first several bands I got into were Go West, the Tubes and Toto and each brought those elements to the table. My love of harmonies brought me to the boy band explosion in the late-90’s and I couldn’t get enough of the Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees.

It almost seems like a natural progression that moving from rock to vocal groups that I would then get really into the Beatles and that changed everything! Their sound rekindled my love of rock music, but also brought the pop sensibility that I loved so much. It wasn’t long after that I was getting into artists like Richard Marx, Yes and, of course, Gino Vannelli.
