“Yeah, my previous band dissolved, and I asked Joe if he wanted to do something,” White said. “We've known each for a long time, so I knew we could start something that would be really good.”

Growing up in Liverpool, England in the sixties and seventies, the music of the time certainly helped them become the musicians they are today.

Symes grew up in a household where music was the common thread of the family. “My mother could play a bit of piano, my sister could play a few chords on guitar and my brother is a singer/songwriter also,” he said. “I originally started as a drummer to which I progressed to songwriting. I also play harmonica, bass, piano; all self-taught.

I was playing acoustic gigs around the northwest myself, and Colin joined me after that, playing bongos.

Our line-up has changed since we started, and now that we are three-piece there is a lot more room for the band to try out more things. Stef joined us this year taking the role of bass player.”

For Bujak, his musical background can be traced to one of the most famous scenes of the 1960’s – The Cavern Scene centered around the cradle of rock and roll and The Beatles first home, The Cavern Club.

“I get my musical background partly from my dad as I used to sneak a go on his guitar as a kid whilst he was at work, until he got me my very own guitar!” Bujak said. “He was also part of the Cavern scene in the 60's with his band (The Bojacs). They even have their name on a brick on the wall of fame outside The Cavern. I've always listened to music of all styles playing around the house as I grew up mainly Beatles, The Who, and The Everly Brothers!”

Unlike the other two members of Joe Symes and The Loving Kind, White admits he had no musical aspirations until, at aged ten, he heard The Doors for the first time, thanks to his brother.

“Around eleven I wanted to be like John Densmore, but my parents wouldn't buy me a drum kit,” White said. “Eventually, at fourteen, they knew I was serious, and it's just grew from then. I've never looked back.”
