The Mars Patrol are a 6 piece band based in Edinburgh who have been honing their stirring alternative rock sound over a series of rapturously-received EPs and singles. Now it’s time for their first album. The outfit's new material examines fresh, untouched territory, directing listeners to interesting features, and placing themselves in sunny positions to weather winter months.
Having already spawned two singles, Young Lovers and Girl I Used To Know, the album will be further showcased in mid-April by single Not About You, again with an accompanying video directed by John Hardwick (Travis, Noel Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg). Singer Divine - who states David Bowie as a personal influence - says, "the single was inspired by Bowie's 'Lets Dance' and releasing it as our main single alongside the album is our way of showing respect to such an important creative genius".
Led by de facto bandleaders, Divine and Nelson (who wrote their first song together the very day they met in their hometown of Edinburgh), Human Condition is crammed full of songs more melodic than a spaceship full of Nightingales that stick in your head like a recurring dream you won't ever want to wake up from.
Recorded between the Capitals of both Scotland and England respectively and mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, Goo Goo Dolls) and Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Twin Atlantic), the Album is entirely crowdfunded by The Mars Patrol's mega-loyal legion of international fans - the reward of relentless touring and maintaining enthusiastic online relationships. The bands packed, page-turning CV continues with Human Condition, a record guaranteed to uplift existing followers and seduce new listeners alike. Indeed, this collection of 11 songs marks a new dawn in the dynamic outfit's desire for sonic exploration.
BBC Radio One, Radio Scotland and pioneering Scottish DJ Jim Gellatly are all champions of the band having play-listed and reviewed previous releases. In recent times, the band have performed at T In The Park, appeared on BBC Introducing, toured the United States of America, and succeeded with two Pledge Music campaigns.
The Mars Patrol
