NANA Construction Fabricates Camp Modules for Clear Space Force Station
NANA Construction ( NC ) was awarded a project from Red Point Construction to fabricate and deliver a 72-bed camp consisting of 42 modules , two stair towers and a front entry with an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant ramp . In January , the units shipped from the NC Big Lake facility to Clear Space Force Station , south of Nenana in interior Alaska . As of Jan . 27 , 2022 , all the modules were installed , with all of the connections and commissioning currently taking place .

Akima Wins Outstanding Small Business Award from NASA
Akima ’ s biggest silent auction event drew in record funds as it brought together viewers from across the Akima portfolio of companies .
Each year , Akima hosts multiple fundraisers that benefit causes in the NANA region . Past fundraisers have raised money for Maniilaq Association ’ s Suicide Prevention Program , Aqqaluk Trust , Arctic Circle Search & Rescue and for Elder care kits during the first year of the pandemic . Akima employees dig deep into their own pockets to contribute to each of these fundraisers .
This past holiday season , Akima employees surpassed donations from previous efforts and raised a total of $ 57,669 to benefit KOTZ Radio . They learned about the critical services KOTZ provides in the NANA region , serving as a vital line of communication for news , alerts and updates in northwest Alaska .
A silent auction was broadcast virtually to Akima employees around the world . Departments and individuals within Akima donated gift baskets , which were then available to bid on during the auction . Proceeds from auction items raised $ 38,064 of the total , with the remainder coming from $ 7,140 in direct donations and $ 11,915 in raffle ticket sales .
Mamie Karmun , a NANA shareholder and Akima ’ s director of shareholder programs , leads the fundraiser each year .
“ Thank you to all employees who participated in our annual holiday silent auction ,” said Mamie , “ whether it was by generously donating an item or basket , bidding on items , purchasing raffle tickets or donating directly to KOTZ . Our donation will help the station with their daily broadcasts .”

Akima Support Operations ( ASO ) was recently named by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA ) as a Small Business Industry Award winner at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt , MD .
NASA recognized ASO for delivering outstanding services to help NASA achieve its mission . ASO provides comprehensive services for facilities , maintenance and repair .
Akima Recent Contract Wins
• Akima subsidiary Sunik was awarded a $ 44 million contract by the U . S . Army to provide logistics support services at Fort Stewart , GA . Through the five-year contract , Sunik will support the 3rd Infantry Division and tenant units with maintenance , supply and transportation services . Sunik specializes in delivering day-to-day facilities and base level logistics operations and management .
• Akima subsidiary Compass Point was one of four companies selected for a contract by the U . S . Army Cyber Capability Development Integration Directorate Futures and Concepts Center in Fort Gordon , GA . Under the contract , worth a total of $ 201.8 million over five years , Compass Point will provide program management , concept development and force modernization integration for cyber programs .
• An Akima joint venture was awarded a $ 106 million contract by the U . S . Patent and Trademark Office ( PTO ) to provide missionessential services in support of patent application processing . Under the five-year contract , Akima will provide technical services and system enhancement support to improve PTO processing and maintenance of patent applications .
