NANA | Annual Meeting recap

PERMANENT FUND

The first important savings target for the fund is a goal of $ 750 million before earnings start to be used for dividends. NANA has set aside more than $ 460 million in funds

GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR SHAREHOLDERS

In addition to financial investments, NANA’ s board believes strongly in investing in our people. This year, we expanded opportunities for shareholders through career development, leadership cultivation, and culturally aligned programs.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

NANA is actively investing in economic development and sustainability to strengthen our village economies.
The VEI grant program has received a total allocation of $ 44 million, with $ 4 million designated per village. This funding empowers communities to invest in meaningful projects, with the sole requirement being agreement between the tribe and the city through joint resolutions of support. For example, Shungnak still has $ 3 million available for future initiatives.

$ 44M in board allocated funds since the program was created, as of March 23, 2025.
$ 4M to Each Community Monies committed as of March 23, 2025 million in village grants, contributing to over 127 projects across the region. These initiatives drive local investment, support infrastructure development, create jobs, and strengthen our commitment to longterm community prosperity.
NANA remains committed to supporting our communities through meaningful investments:
Education Funding: Over the past three years, $ 4.5 million was provided to the Northwest Arctic Borough School District, including $ 1.5 million to fully fund pre-K programs. This ensures young learners have a solid foundation for future success.
Fuel Subsidies: To address rising energy costs, we allocated $ 7.6 million to reduce fuel prices by 20 %, easing the financial burden on shareholder households.
These efforts reflect our dedication to fostering education and alleviating financial pressures, ensuring a brighter future for our region.
NANA is advancing the NANA NET regional broadband project, supported by a historic $ 65.2 million grant from the NTIA Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. This initiative will deliver high-speed internet to the region via middle-mile fiber optic infrastructure. Additionally, the NANA board has committed $ 8 million to connect homes and businesses through last-mile infrastructure in all ten regional communities, ensuring access to modern digital infrastructure.
NANA, in partnership with the Northwest Arctic Borough, is advancing a $ 54.8 million renewable energy project to bring solar power, battery storage, and heat pumps to every village in the region. This initiative aims to lower energy costs and enhance energy security by reducing reliance on costly diesel fuel.
The borough serves as the primary applicant for the grant, with NANA as an official partner. To support this project, the NANA board has committed $ 5 million in matching funds, reflecting our dedication to sustainable energy solutions and stronger regional partnerships.
