Annual Meeting recap |
NANA
Stewarding our lands and supporting our subsistence way of life
At NANA, we’ re proud to share exciting news about the resource protection officer( RPO) program, which is expanding to safeguard our land and subsistence resources better. This program also allows shareholders to work on the land, protecting NANA lands from trespass and improper use while directly helping our communities.
Responding to feedback from shareholders, we’ ve increased patrols this year to provide more substantial support for local subsistence users. The spring and fall patrols allow RPOs to spend extended time traveling the land they protect.
NANA recently equipped our resource protection program with new, branded snowmachines and sleds to enhance the effectiveness of patrols. These tools are a symbol of our commitment to investing in the success of the RPOs and the program’ s growth.
We’ re also excited to introduce NANA shareholder Brad Reich from Kiana as the new RPO manager. Brad brings a wealth of traditional knowledge to our team and a focus on enhancing the program’ s reach and impact. Together with our lands team, Brad will help to ensure that NANA lands and traditional practices are safeguarded for generations to come.
The RPO program reflects our shared dedication to defending resources, protecting cultural practices, and supporting our hunters and subsistence users. Together, we’ re not just protecting the land, we’ re protecting our way of life.

Celebrating culture through the NMS Deliciously Indigenous Program
The NMS Deliciously Indigenous Program celebrates the deep connection between food, culture, history, and community. By featuring traditional Alaska Native ingredients, Deliciously Indigenous goes beyond nourishment, sharing stories and preserving the rich heritage of local communities. Through these efforts, NMS is fostering unity and honoring the traditions of Alaska Native people while serving nutritious, meaningful meals.
At the core of this initiative is a commitment to increasing access to ingredients, including local sourcing and collaboration with Tribal food purveyors. By working closely with local communities, NMS ensures its ingredients reflect authentic culinary traditions, benefiting both local economies and cultural preservation.
Director of Indigenous Foods and Executive Chef Amy Foote brings over 30 years of culinary experience and a deep passion for the healing power of food to this project. From foraging and growing her own ingredients to connecting meals with tradition and well-being, Amy emphasizes food ' s role as medicine. For her, every dish is a bridge between past and present, nourishing both body and spirit while creating a profound connection to culture, land, and community. With Amy ' s leadership, NMS ensures that we are supporting meaningful work in food security.
