Business Club
The Hult Sustainable Business Club is a club that aims to provide the student body of Hult with knowledge and insight to how the concept of sustainability is incorporated in modern businesses. A common misconception is that sustainability is only connected to green technology and the environment. The club brings in business leaders, experts, and entrepreneurs to shed more light on the vast definition of sustainability. This article highlights two events where a total of three individuals shared their vision on sustainability.
The first event “Business Sustainability and Energy Efficiency” was lead by Mr. Charles Lord from Renew Energy Partners. He spoke about how his business model is based on assisting other companies become more sustainable. Renew EP ensures a seamless transition from an old and costly, to a new, sustainable and energy efficient business. Renew EP does this by both financing the upgrades necessary and providing the labor needed to install the upgrades. The companies can therefore focus on their core activities and enjoy the cost savings afterwards. Renew EP’s revenue is made of a percentage of what the customer saves each year.
Major takeaways were: Sustainability is a highly profitable business; and that the money a client saves, can be used for innovation, which in turn can lead to increased growth or an investment in their social responsibility. Sustainability is therefore adding value far beyond just saving money.
