Voting Matters
Story by Dani Taylor
It’s a strange feeling to sit at the ballot box or voting booth as an election
worker. You’ve anticipated the day for weeks, and are ready, bright-eyed and
bushy-tailed, when the polls open. Your voters’ lists are lined up neatly in
front of you, and all that’s missing is the hordes of eager voters, who will
arrive over the next ten to twelve hours to exercise their democratic
privilege. But when the polls close, you can’t help feeling a little
disappointed. Half the names on your list haven’t been crossed off, and
much of your day was spent eagerly watching the door in hopes of seeing
more voters trickle through.
