As I write this, the full harvest moon
is shining above me, my house is filled
with the smell of pumpkin spice and
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins is wailing out
from the record player. I was blessed with
a family that loves Halloween; we eat,
sleep and breathe the day of the dead. We
research our costumes, we win prizes, we
throw Halloween parties where every
room has a theme because every monster
and tradition deserves its time in the
moonlight. Luckily for me, the rest of
Windsor’s penchant for the macabre is
just as voracious, and an authentic All
Hallows Eve is lurking just around the
light-up, try Big Boo Farm on Manning
Road. You can get pumpkins in varying
shades of orange and white, giant
pumpkins and pie pumpkins, bumpy
pumpkins, perfectly smooth pumpkins
and pumpkins that are scary before you
even carve them. The lawns and barn are
decorated with haunted scenes that are
appropriate for all ages and you can even
pick up a readymade piece of true
