New schools coming
In late October, the Province of Ontario announced
long-awaited funding for the building of new schools in
Windsor-Essex.
In Amherstburg, a new secondary school
will be built to accomdate the
consolidation of General Amherst High
School and Western Secondary School.
The school will hold just over 800
students at an estimated cost of almost

In LaSalle, a new elementary school

will address building conditions and

backlog at Prince Andrew Public School.

available for a school to hold 423 students.
And in Windsor, plans for a new
Catholic secondary school in downtown
Windsor will move forward, to replace the 405 Pelissier St. Windsor
aging and overcrowded Catholic Central.
