Jane’s Walk
Jane Jacobs (1916-2006) was an urbanist and
activist whose writings championed a fresh,
community-based approach to city building.
Jane’s Walks are free, locally organized walking
tours, in which people get together to explore, talk
about and celebrate their neighbourhoods. Where
more traditional tours are a bit like walking
lectures, a Jane’s Walk is more of a walking
conversation. Leaders share their knowledge, but
also encourage discussion and participation
among the walkers.
On May 6, a Jane’s Walk will be held in historic
Ford City, along Drouillard Rd, led by Resident
Engagement Coordinators and a member of the
Resident in Action Committee. Click here for
information.
Also on May 6, the DWCC is partnering with
Bike Windsor-Essex to host a Jane's RIDE. The
theme is 'neighbourhood revitalization' and it
will stopping at places in the downtown,
riverfront, and Wyandotte Corridor that highlight
the way our downtown has or will be changing!
Families are encouraged to bring their kids. Click
