The only constant is change. It’s an old adage, but very true,
and as we approach the fourth anniversary of The Hub, change is in
the air. And, as another old adage goes, change is does not have to
be good or bad - it’s all in how you respond to it.
With this issue of The Hub, I’m pleased to welcome long-time
contributor, and my oldest daughter, Angelica Haggert aboard as my
new publishing partner. Not all families are able to work
successfully together. Luckily, Angelica and I have collaborated on
many projects over the years and have always found a way to reach a
beneficial middle ground, in spite of - or perhaps, because of - the
mother-daughter dynamic that will always be present.
I will miss working with Eva Antonel - she and I have been
working together since 2001, and her commitment to both the
community and the local magazine market predates that. However,
she has decided to explore other endeavours, and we wish her well.
Eva herself will be sharing her thoughts on her departure from The
Hub next month.
As our new co-publisher/editor, Angelica brings her
well-established commitment to The Hub and to Windsor-Essex, as
well as a fresh perspective, new ideas and a “let’s try” approach. She
is an established professional in local edu-tainment and all-around
Jack-of-all-trades in the communications field.
Please join me in welcoming Angelica to her new role. She and
I are excited about embarking on this adventure as we continue to
connect the ideas, information and individuals of Windsor-Essex
with one another.
When Shelley approached me about joining her on the editing
team, the answer required no thought. "YES!"
Of course I'd love to help take what we're doing with The
HubWE and delve into its inner workings. The last week of helping
with the layout has only strengthened my love for both journalism,
and for what we're trying to do with this digital magazine.
Exploring and loving Windsor-Essex is so important to the success
of the city, and there are some amazing people doing some amazing
things.
July to me is truly the start of the summer. I haven't been in
high school for a long time (oh goodness, don't do the math!), but
until the Windsor fireworks go off and the Summer Fun Fest comes
to the riverfront, it's just not summer yet. In July and August, being
inside seems like the worst idea in the world - I'd rather be out on
my bike touring the CWATS trails, checking out our local historic
spots (like Fort Malden!) or taking part in some of the Canada150
activities happening in the region.
Whenever summer starts for you, where are your adventures
taking you?
