As seen in the first episode of season 4, the show will test how well a team can communicate, read a map, kayak, handle heights, etc. In the application FAQs, prospective racers are reminded that this is, above all, “a relationship show.” That relationship shines through. “They’re like an old married couple,” Candy, Brandon’s mom commented on the sideline of our interview. “Look at the way they look at each other before answering, and then practically finish each other’s sentences.” The guys did struggle with the role of leadership. “Trying to figure out when one person would lead and the other would follow was one of the toughest challenges,” said Anthony, laughing. “We knew that would be a problem. I like to be right and he always likes to be right too.” It’s no secret the personalities of the two coworkers shine bright. And for an episode, at least, it made for entertaining TV. Nonetheless, the two were a bit anxious as to how much screen time they’d get. Anthony was nervous for the big reveal. “For me, I swear quite a bit. I would purposely swear when I didn’t want them to show something, thinking of how embarrassing it was.” Brandon’s face lights up as he had flashbacks to all the times he would have to tell Anthony to watch his language. “We had warnings saying ‘watch the language’ or ‘you can’t say that’ but every five minutes Anthony was saying something. They also have a lot of recorded footage of us just goofing around so it should be cool to see what makes it on TV.” What did make it to air should definitely be enough to get the guys a role in the next buddy movie. Anyone watching that first episode won’t soon forget Anthony’s “Move it, Bambi!” from behind the wheel as an elk crossed their path in Jasper Alberta. The moment had been preserved as an Internet GIF and started to circulate before the episode’s end. They claim their team, if it had a nickname, would be called “white chocolate” but we like to think of them as Pixar’s Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
