MEGA HOSPITAL GROW GRANT FOR WINDSOR’S ZONING PLAN The controversial site of the new mega-hospital has taken another step forward. The zoning plan has been submitted to the City of Windsor by Windsor Regional Hospital. The plan also includes details about building up the surrounding area of the proposed site. The city’s planning department can take 30 days to review the submission before responding. Changes can be requested by the planning department, and then the plan will become available to the public for them to read. After the plan is public, open meetings will be held to allow residents to give their feedback. TUNNEL TOLL INCREASE The fee to come to Windsor from Detroit using the tunnel has increased. The USD rate has not changed, but the Canadian dollar rate has increased from $6 to $6.25. The Nexpress rate has also increased. DOWNTOWN MISSION The Downtown Mission is getting almost half a million dollars over the next three years. The grant comes from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and will go towards the Mission’s Enterprise program. Enterprise helps clients of the Mission who face barriers in obtaining employment. The Enterprise program has existed since 2010 and was expanded in 2016. STANDARD LEASE A new Ontario-standard lease form has been approved. The standard form will be effective beginning April 30 and will ensure landlords and tenants are communicating in clear language so there are no miscommunications. February 2018 - The HUB 15
