Immunization records

Several thousand students born in 1999 and 2000 with incomplete immunization records received a formal suspension notice this week from the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit ( WECHU ). The notice advised students of which vaccine ( s ) were missing , how to get in touch with the Health Unit to provide updated information , and how to book an appointment for immunization to avoid suspension come February 28 , 2017 .
Students have four ways to update their immunization record : 1 . Call the Healthy Schools Department at the Health Unit at 519-258-2146 or 1-800-265-5822 and select extension 1222
2 . Fax the immunization record to the Health Unit at 519-258-7288
3 . Input the information online to the secure reporting system at immune . wechu . org
4 . Bring the updated immunization record to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit in person . Beginning Tuesday , February 28 , 2017 , students with incomplete records will be suspended from school for up to 20 days .

Black History Month

February is Black History Month , recognized by the Government of Canada in 1995 . Windsor and Essex County are rich in Black history . Canadians of African descent have played important roles in the cultural , political , social , and economic progress of our communities .
The theme of Black History Month 2017 is “ Stories of Courage .” To celebrate our heritage , there are dozens of Black History Month events happening around our region , throughout the month of February and beyond .
