CHILD CHECK
SYSTEM
INSTALLED
CG Pearson Bus Company is implementing a
mechanical “Child Check” system on its
busses after a 4-year-old child was left
unattended on a bus for three hours.
The mechanical system requires drivers to
deactivate an alarm by pushing a button at the
back of the bus. This requires drivers to make
the manual sweep of the entire bus before
shutting down and parking for the night.
CAPRI PIZZA NAMES
RECREATION COMPLEX
Although you can no longer sit in the
restaurant to enjoy Capri Pizza, you can find
their name at the South Windsor Recreation
Complex.
The pizza company just purchased
naming rights for $160,000 from the City of
Windsor. The naming agreement is a
ten-year contract and will allow for various
upgrades to the recreation centre.
$15 MINIMUM
WAGE
The $15 minimum wage legislation has passed
its final vote in Ontario legislature and will
take effect on January 1.
The wage increase is part of the Fair
Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, which also lays
out new rules for sick and personal days,
contract and part-time employees and union
organization.
AUTONOMOUS ...
BOATS?
Windsor and Detroit were the home of
the first cross-border test of
autonomous vehicles, but the Detroit
River might soon be home to
autonomous boats as well.
A Norweigian company expects to
set the first autonomous vessel sailing
down a river in Norway by 2020, with
energy saving operation by battery as
well.
