CHILD CHECK SYSTEM INSTALLED CG Pearson Bus Company is implementing a mechanical “Child Check” system on its busses after a 4-year-old child was left unattended on a bus for three hours. The mechanical system requires drivers to deactivate an alarm by pushing a button at the back of the bus. This requires drivers to make the manual sweep of the entire bus before shutting down and parking for the night. CAPRI PIZZA NAMES RECREATION COMPLEX Although you can no longer sit in the restaurant to enjoy Capri Pizza, you can find their name at the South Windsor Recreation Complex. The pizza company just purchased naming rights for $160,000 from the City of Windsor. The naming agreement is a ten-year contract and will allow for various upgrades to the recreation centre. $15 MINIMUM WAGE The $15 minimum wage legislation has passed its final vote in Ontario legislature and will take effect on January 1. The wage increase is part of the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, which also lays out new rules for sick and personal days, contract and part-time employees and union organization. AUTONOMOUS ... BOATS? Windsor and Detroit were the home of the first cross-border test of autonomous vehicles, but the Detroit River might soon be home to autonomous boats as well.
