The Fruit Wagon
Doug & Leslie Balsillie
Since 1984 this family has established orchards, berry
farms and organic markets along the coast of Lake Erie.
Leslie and Doug Balsillie have raised four children in the
farm fields and are fully entrenched in the joys the
Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market has to offer.
Mainly working in fresh apples for commercial packing
and the Toronto Food Terminal, the Fruit Wagon team was
among the first farmer vendors in the area to truly
embrace social media, active on both Facebook and
Instagram.
The Fruit Wagon operates a retail roadside stand with
fresh picked produce daily, in addition to their weekly
presence at the DWFM.
The Balsillies make eight flavours of apple cider
vinegar and share recipes for foods made from their farm
offerings on their Facebook page.

gladiolas. These gorgeous long-stemmed flowers are one
of the first things to sell out each market morning.
