Jones can be purchased at the following links: Juniper Books Dr. Disc Records & CD, University of Windsor Bookstore McLaren Photo Lab Riverside Guitar Shop or by contacting Owen B. Jones clap, dance and hum along. And EDM (electronic dance music) will once again rock the riverfront this September during the Coming Home Festival. And then there’s musical theatre. “The musical style or genre that plays best in Windsor (right now) would probably be musical theatre, if you're going strictly by attendance figures,” says Jones. This could bode well for Meloche, who hasn’t limited herself to being a one-woman show. A graduate of St. Clair College’s Music Theatre Performance program, she’s slated to appear in Theatre Ensemble’s Shrek this October. And among the singers, songwriters, strummers and drummers, there are many others making a name for themselves, here and away. Jones is a fan of The Blue Stones, and has heard good things about The Walkervilles. “”And there's a jazz bassist, Mike Palazzolo, who I think might go far.” Music needs listeners, and the area’s music scene can only continue its proud traditions if the audience sticks with them. If Detroit was the proverbial elephant for earlier generations, we’re now impacted on a global scale. “Generally speaking, live music is not nearly as popular or important to current generations,” says Jones.“ There are so many other things competing for our attention and our entertainment dollar.” “My favourite thing about performing locally is being able to see my friends and family in the crowd,” says Meloche. Support the continued growth and appreciation of music in Windsor-Essex this month. Check out Folk Fest or River Rock, visit a local performance somewhere like Loreleis or Taloola, or pull up a lawn chair at an outdoor concert. Perhaps we’ll even make enough noise to startle the elephant. Visit Taloola on Facebook! Wholesome Eats u Scrumptious Treats u Organic Coffee & Teas Atmosphere, community and friendly service.
