Mr
Hason
Hanson
What started him with public safety was his great aunt, she was the first police officer
in Ogden, Utah. At this time Mr. Hanson was about 7 or 8 years old. The fact that his
aunt was a police officer really shocked him. He would always think “You’re a girl! You
can’t be a police officer!” This was the early 60s. So you could imagine how bizarre it
was to see a female in a job that’s consider a male’s job. But full of pride, Mr.
Hanson's aunt pulled out her badge and with amazement Mr. Hanson thought that
was the coolest thing he has ever seen. So from that point on he knew that he wanted
to be somewhat like her.
If you remember when you were in elementary, teachers would have you write down
what you would want to be. Mr. Hanson himself wrote down that he wanted to be a
secret agent, not a special agent but a secret agent for the FBI. For the longest time
Mr. Hanson’s grandmother kept it. After her death Hanson found it and it is now
framed next to his letter of employment from the FBI.
Hanson has traveled all over the world. He’s worked cases from Hungary to Germany
to Afghanistan to Iraq. From all this traveling he’s gotten tired. He still loves to see
new things, but he wanted a change. A new change. So his sister suggested that he
should be a substitute teacher, since she knows that he loves to teach, and he
thought “Hey I can do that. I can stay home, won’t have to travel. This would be
perfect.” So he put his paperwork in for Walden Grove. Sooner than later the school
hired him. They started this program, and he was lucky enough to be the teacher for
law and safety.
Has beloved Mr. Hanson gotten trouble with the law? Has he himself done some
time? No. He’s never been arrested. But when he was a teen, one of his friends was
caught with marijuana. But of course Hanson wasn’t apart of it, but he had to get
questioned. Here and there he would get speeding tickets, but Hanson has never
gotten in trouble for anything huge. If you want to know more about law and safety I
suggest you sign up fthe class. Many students recommend it. Don't miss out!
“My experience from the Walden
Grove Law And Public Safety class is
fantastic!” Says Nate Brown. (Junior) “You
learn all about law enforcement, policing,
law, cases in courts, and the list
goes on and on. The thing I like most
about the class is that we do hands on
things such as handcuffing and clearing
hallways and rooms.”
